picture may be worth a thousand words, however, the
photo above still does not exemplify the beauty and
detail incorporated into the Glenbrook Mall Fountain.
In an attempt to entertain and provide a relaxing
atmosphere for ongoing customers, Landau & Heyman,
Inc. elected to construct this exquisite fountain
within the J.C. Penney Court.
The entire fountain is supported by concrete retaining
walls, which required an intricate forming system
to accommodate the radial design. The photo to left
reflects some of the forming system used. On the
outside, the fountain is decorated with Italian glass
tile and terrazzo. To provide the exhilarating water
display, a specialized contractor out of Atlanta,
Georgia completed the mechanics of the fountain system.
Each fountainhead had to be calibrated and precisely
located to provide the rainbow effects as shown in
the top photo. |
